The Santamus log building is the shape of the Isommus gold nugget – the biggest golden nugget ever found in Lapland. Real gold can also be found in Santamus: one of our most popular programmes is gold panning.
During the programme, we gather together by the babbling stream flowing through Santamus. Everyone gets their own gold washing pan, where the sand is washed in the flowing stream, trying to find a some real Lemmenjoki gold.
As a hospitable host, we make sure everyone has a lucky day. At the end of the programme, everyone will receive their own golden charm; a small glass bottle neck chain pendant that contains the gold you have found yourself.
